Construction work on a sewer line project along Royal Palm Avenue in Garapan.

THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp.'s Garapan sewer line project on Royal Palm Avenue is scheduled to be completed on July 27, according to Project Manager Dennis Formalejo.

Royal Palm Ave. connects Cha Cafe with the Garapan fire station and intersects Paseo De Marianas, a major component of the Garapan Revitalization Project.

The CUC sewer line project involves the following activities: install three new sewer manholes to replace current manholes along the avenue; install 12-inch PVC pipes to replace existing asbestos cement pipe; connect a new 12-inch sewer main to the existing sewer manhole past Promenade Avenue; install new six-inch service laterals and connect to existing service lines; relocate existing six-inch waterline impacted by the installation of new sewer mains; reconnect the fire hydrant and water meters to the relocated waterline; and restore the asphalt.

In an email to Variety, CUC said construction work on the project is performed between five and six days each week.

Formalejo said the construction crew will soon work on Ginger Avenue, another component of the Garapan Revitalization Project. He said the scheduled deadline for the CUC sewer line project is Sept. 30.

Timothy R. Lang, project manager for the Garapan Revitalization Project, said the Office of Planning and Development's Garapan Revitalization Project activities are separate from CUC's sewer line project.

Lang also stated that the sewer line projects on Royal Palm Ave. and Ginger Avenue would have an impact on the Garapan Revitalization Project.

"Completion of OPD improvements of these streets will be affected by the CUC sewer line replacement project," Lang said.

Lang projected, however, that OPD will still meet its Nov. 8, 2024, deadline to complete the entire Garapan Revitalization Project.

Phase 1 of the Garapan Revitalization Project, which is the phase where workers began breaking ground on Paseo De Marianas and Ginger Ave., was originally scheduled to be completed by April of this year.
