A WOMAN has been praised after sharing the genius way she makes decorations for her stair rail - and can use them again, year after year.

Shayna posted the clever idea in a video on her TikTok page, as she explained: "Here's a beautiful and fun way to decorate your staircase for Christmas."

She then went to get some pool noodles from the shop and cut them down the middle, so that she could place them over the handrail.

Once they were on, she was able to secure them with cable ties, before adding the decorations.

"Then get some ornaments, I got tonnes of them for cheap, and get a glue gun," she continued.

"Start by glueing the biggest ornaments first and then take the smaller ones and glue them to fill the gaps.

"Then you can get some more decorative bits, such as pine cones, and get some greenery to cover some more gaps as well."

She finished off by getting some gold net ribbon, wrapping it and tucking it in to cover up the gaps.

"Then your stairway is a beautiful Christmas masterpiece!" Shayna said.

"The best part is you can cut the zip ties, take it off in one piece and apply it again next year."

While lots of people praised Shayna for the genius hack, others insisted she was affecting the safety of the stairs by putting decorations on the rail.

"Very beautiful but am I the only one who needs to use the rail while going up and down?" one wrote.

"I have no kids or elderly living with me so I just take caution when going up and down the stairs," Shayna replied.

"But obviously if you have kids or elders this probably isn't the DIY project for you!"

And someone else hit back: "This looks awesome. These comments are nuts.

"I think for some, they should apply the pool noodle and leave the decor off. There. Now you are safe."
